Akarnae

This page turning book kept me picking it up to read more of it and is by Lynette Noni and it is about a sixteen, year old girl named Alexandra Jennings.

As in this story Alex gets sent to a boarding school in America as her parents who want to be somewhere else thinks it’ll be a great opportunity for their daughter.

As Alex Jennings parents will be away for eight months.

However, Alex finds herself in another world and in another school instead of where her parents and she had thought she was going.

  1. Thanks for letting me borrow these books Jo, I have enjoyed reading the first two in the series. I always enjoy a story with a strong heroine, and Alex is very likeable. The story does put me a little in mind of the Harry Potter stories.

  2. I have read one book review of The Medoran Chronicles that pointed out that this series of books popularity is on par with the Harry Potter series. Although the Harry Potter books is more for younger readers while The Medoran Chronicles targets Young Adults. The Akarnae Academy have different classes when compared to the classes that they had at Hogwarts, but Akarnae had a similar class to Hogwarts magical creatures, class.

Also, unlike Hogwarts the students at Akarnae don’t study magic, but they learn to control their gifts. I think Lynette Noni is aware of her Medoran Chronicles being compared to the Harry Potter series as she had a bit of a laugh when she wrote that Aven was He Who Must Not Be Named.
